Rogers Ochieng Otieno, a volunteer community health worker in Kenya, used to have to trek for miles to protect families from malaria. But now he has a motorbike, which means he can reach the remote communities who desperately need his help. Rogers works for the Rural Transport Network, where he provides isolated communities around Lake Victoria with essential knowledge about malaria prevention and distributing life-saving mosquito nets. This dedicated volunteer regularly travels 14 kilometres or more on his motorbike to visit a family at risk from malaria, which just wouldn’t be possible on foot.
